The Consortium « Institut Français of Paris (IF) and the Center Culturel Kôrè of Ségou (CCK) » in charge of the ACP-EU CULTURE PROGRAM: SUPPORT FOR CULTURAL AND CREATIVE SECTORS IN WEST AFRICA- AWA, launched from 03 March to 17 April 2021 its first call for projects.
The AWA Program has a double objective, namely:
on the one hand, to support the revitalization of the competitiveness of the cultural and creative industries all along the value chain (creation, production and distribution) in the 16 West African countries.
On the other hand, to help support the development of the digital economy in West Africa by supporting cultural and creative industries actors in their digital transition.
The first call for projects called « GRANTS OF THE STRUCTURING FUND FOR CULTURAL OPERATORS» aims to grant beneficiaries a maximum structuring grant of € 150,000 over 3 years at a rate of € 50,000 per year. It also offers the winners a personalized support program over time and their participation in networking activities.
This call for projects aroused real interest among cultural operators in West Africa in view of the very high quality of responses and the mobilization of 85 applications from thirteen (13) countries out of sixteen (16) in the region.
The choice of the 15 laureates was entrusted to an international jury composed of experts from West Africa chosen for their expertise and perfect knowledge of the region.
This jury, accompanied by the AWA project coordinators, met on May 11 for its deliberation in the presence of observers from the European Commission and the ACP-EU Culture Technical Assistance Unit.
