Art & Wash Component
Art & Wash Component(Water, Hygiene and Sanitation)
The Art & WASH componentThis is an innovative community development program that raises awareness, mobilizes, encourages, and engages communities in behavioral change through art, aiming for the sustainable adoption of habits regarding access to and provision of water, hygiene, and sanitation services. This program serves as an interface between WASH projects and communities, respecting social norms and beliefs in harmony with local cultural values in Mali. It then professionalizes local artists and stakeholders, engaging them artistically to become agents of change by and for their communities.
This approach involves the CCK’s AMCS (Art and Maaya for Social Change) concept, which is central to the theory of change, from a socio-cultural and economic perspective for participatory design and the implementation of an appropriate action plan:
- To the target groups;
- Regarding the behaviors to adopt in the face of the challenges;
- To the local context of intervention.
Art and Maaya for Social Change (AMCS) is an approach that uses different forms of art to educate on WASH and citizenship issues, socio-cultural issues, while drawing inspiration from the societal values of Mali.
Following the success of the Ji ni Beseya and Beseya Blon projects with our partners WaterAid Mali and One Drop, the CCK plans to launch the Maaya ni Beseya project to integrate its Art & WASH approach into a dynamic of sustainability.
