KÔRÈ BARO

Citizen debate, History and Society

The Kôrè Cultural Center, in accordance with its Maaya and Citizenship program, as part of the Art and Education component, initiated the Kôrè Baro space 12 years ago. It is a monthly platform for citizen debate, exchange, knowledge sharing and information on the issues, history and highlights of our society.

This platform aims to contribute to the socio-economic and cultural development of Mali through civic, moral and cultural education in order to promote awareness, civic engagement and patriotic fiber among young people and adults with a view to social transformation and lasting behavioral change. It reinforces among citizens the culture of Maaya values such as integrity, respect for the public good, sharing and humanism.

The space is hosted monthly, during the CCK cultural weekend, by a resource person, a Karamoko (author, historian, traditionalist, anthropologist, sociologist, etc.) through a talk-debate on various themes such as art, tradition, history and patrimony.

More than 1,000 people made up of high school students, academics, cultural actors, artists, art lovers and teachers benefit from this space each year.

The Kôrè Baro space is structured around the following activities :

  • Citizen debate on the challenges and issues of citizenship
  • History and society on the issues, history and highlights of our society.
